Cynthia Sharp
The author of Ordinary Light, a first prize winner in the SCWES Book Awards, Rainforest in Russet, The Light Bearers in the Sand Dollar Graviton and How to Write Poetry, as well as the editor of Poetic Portions, she was the City of Richmond’s 2019 Writer in Residence. She is a full member of The League of Canadian Poets and served two years on the executive of the Federation of British Columbia Writers. She’s featured at The Vancouver International Writers Festival, Word Vancouver, The Simon Fraser University Reading Series, Spoken Ink, Words on Fire in Port Alberni, Poesic Fest in Denver, the Writers Read Series in Toronto and other literary events through North America. Her work has been published and broadcast internationally, nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net Anthology, and is used in classrooms through the world. Her poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction and reviews can be found in journals such as CV2, Lantern Magazine, Prism and untethered, among others. She received her MFA in Washington, where she was the Submissions Editor for The Pitkin Review.
