She later enrolled in nursing at Vancouver General Hospital, retiring to Sechelt. Originally written as a series of reminiscences for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her memoir Prairie Dreams (Port Alberni: Blue Nun Press, 1991) recalls the prairies, with an introduction by Bruce Hutchinson."
